The Department of Basic Education of South Africa releases the results of South African High Schools for university entry.
The schools which are mainly in South Africa with provinces being Kwazulu-Natal, Gauteng, Western Cape, Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo, North Cape, North West.
Before i take you through the procedure on how to check your results, there are in which you can check for your matric results.
How To Check Your Matric Results
- Checking through SMS also known as the USSD
- Checking through the Department of Basic Education’s website.
Checking through SMS
Step 1: Open a new SMS message on your phone
Step 2: Fill in your Exam Number as the message
Step 3: Send the SMS to this number: 45856
Step 4: Note that the SMS will cost R3,00 (Free SMS does not apply)
Step 5: Your exam number will be checked – if you send an incorrect exam number it won’t work
Step 6: You will get your results once they are made available on 21 January

Step 1: Visit the Department of Basic Education website here.
Step 2: Register using your details. (Please note you can only register for matric results until January 20th the day before the marks are released).
Step 3: Click on the link for NSC exam results.
Step 4: Enter your examination number.
Step 5: Your results will appear on the screen.
Step 6: Click the download button and print.
