So every 24th of September on every year is a holiday in South Africa and it’s called the Heritage day. It is done to celebrate the richness of our culture as a nation. It is celebrated by South Africans to remember the cultural heritage of many cultures in South Africa, there for there are a lot of events that are staged all over the country to remember this day.

What Is The History Of The Heritage Day?
This day was established in 1955 to celebrate traditions, cultural diversity and freedoms that has continually been fought over the years with the main aim focusing on Cultural unity and not diversity.

Why We Celebrate Heritage Day?
As i mentioned earlier the day is celebrated yearly for South Africans to celebrate their cultural heritage as a means to cherish their indigenous tradition as a means for unity and nation building.
South Africans honour this day by eating traditional food, wearing outfits from other tribes, educating others on the need to celebrate our different cultures and which will bring unity.
It is also used as a day to remember the legendary Shaka Zulu who played a very important role in uniting all the Zulu clans into one Zulu nation.
