Biography of Wizkid

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun as his real name Wizkid is a Nigerian musician and a song writer who was born in Surulere in Lagos on July 16. Born to a Muslim dad and a Christian mum, Wiz grew up on the streets of Lagos with his twelve female siblings. He started his elementary school in Ijebu Ode Grammar school. Growing up he listened to the likes of Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade and Bobb Marley which in one way or the other influenced his music career.

On how he started his music career Wizkid made it known in an interview sometime back that he started a music called Glorious five with his five church friends, they managed to record their first album until a time came for them to go their separate ways. He later got the name Lil Prinz until 2006. While still in his hustling days he later met a record producer who happened to produce then musicians like 2 face Idibia and Sound Sultan but still not allowed to do any recording for a whole year.

He then met Naeto C who he claimed was one of the few people who mentored him at the age of 15. Wizkid later got signed by a popular production house Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009 where he worked with the likes of MI, Ikechukwu, Skales and Banky W who happens to be the boss of the label. He finally got the chance to release his first album. He later left to start up his own record label Star Boy Records he is also signed on Sony Muisc/RCA.
