The South African Social Security Agency has announced the payment of the COVID-19 Social Relief Distress Fund R350 for South Africans and those eligible to either sign up and for those who have already signed up to check their status.
The COVID-19 Social Relief Distress R350 Grant was designed by the government of South Africa to ease the pressure off struggling individuals who as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic lost their jobs or are unemployed.

According to the SASSA official Facebook page, the COVID-19 SRD Grant was reintroduced because between the periods of March and June 2020 the COVID-19 Relief measures reduced the number of households with income below the food poverty line 20.8% to 18.8%, and reduction in inequality from 0.644 to 0.613. It also showed that the majority of the recipients used the money for food which is good.
The Facebook page also stated that the social relief fund is going to be payable between August 2021 to March 2024.
